Well, there’s the 20 All Time Greatest Hits collection, which is a pretty reliable place to start. I’m always recommending the three Live At The Apollo records, particularly the third one, Revolution Of The Mind, which may be the greatest live album of all goddamn time. If you’re more interested in James Brown’s Funk recordings (he basically invented the genre), check out the two-disc collection Make It Funky: The Big Payback 1971-1975.
