"Another Saturday Night" by Sam Cooke

Sam Cooke prided himself in writing songs that sounded as natural and as spontaneous as conversation, and that’s pretty much exactly how this song began: Stuck in his room in a hotel that forbid him any “female visitors,” Cooke strummed his guitar and improvised these lyrics, almost as a joke:

Another Saturday Night and I ain’t got nobody,
I have some money ‘cause I just got paid.
How I wish I had someone to talk to—
I’m in an awful way.

You want to hear the best part?  Cooke ditched that hotel and hit the town.  And with a voice like that, you just know he got laid.
