Heartless Bastards are by no means new to this blog. I’ve seen them live, was blown away by Erika Wennerstrom’s voice, was shocked at how the band seemed to get better the more they drank, and I remain convinced that their album The Mountain was one of the best records of 2009.
Which brings us to their new release, Arrow. How does it stack up against The Mountain? Well, folks, I’ve listened to it half a dozen times now and I think this one might be even better. This track is called “The Arrow That Killed The Beast,” and you might want to sit down for this one. It’s a song that will devastate you at a walking pace, like watching your house burn to the ground.
