Anonymous asked: how on earth you DESPISE portamento is beyond me, instead of going round voicing your shitty opinions of the drums maybe you should stop listening to them and ask yourself why you bought it/listened to it in the first place...

I think I hurt somebody’s feelings!  Of course, if this guy is such a big fan of The Drums, he’s probably a chronic bedwetter who’ll threaten to cut himself if I keep saying such hurtful things.  I promise I’ll never again blather about what a lame, unoriginal, wimpy, repetitive, utterly soulless excuse for a band The Drums are.  Please accept my most humble apologies, Mr. Anon-Who-Gets-Butthurt-If-Everyone-Doesn’t-Pretend-To-Love-His-Favorite-Band.  And go fuck yourself.

Sincerely,

Doc Shoe

PS: Ye Gods, man, this is a Music Blog for chrissakes.  Voicing shitty opinions about records is what I do.  How sheltered are you that you throw a hissy fit over someone not adoring your favorite band?  Did your Mama forget to cut the crusts off of your peanut butter sandwich the way you like?  As it happens, I bought the record because a friend said he kinda liked The Drums.  I’ve found that I don’t like them at all.  But reasonable people can disagree on many things, especially on something so frivolous as a record, and I still respect my friend and his opinions.  Of course, it helps that he didn’t burst into tears when I said, “I really didn’t like that record by The Drums.”  He shrugged, said: “Hey, different strokes,” and we moved on to a fresh topic.  Because we’re adults.  Someday I hope you’ll understand that.  And someday, hopefully, you’ll be able to ride a bike without training wheels and wear big boy pants to school.  Yay!
