My friend Z makes fun of me for being such a fan of The Rolling Stones. She points out how many of their records (i.e., everything after Some Girls) kinda suck. And she’s got a point. But I think there’s just enough gold in those later records to justify further digging. If you’re not willing to break out a pick and shovel just yet, let me do the work for you: This is “Thru And Thru,” from the (admittedly uneven) Voodoo Lounge album. It’s a song that only Keith Richards could sing. It builds slow, but before you know it, it’s got you.
