idealsofa21centurypunk posted a great audio clip from the classic movie Network the other day, and I thought I would return the favor by posting this: Jello Biafra's label, Alternative Tentacles, has released a couple spoken-word albums from Greg Palast, one the last true investigative journalists working for us. On that second album, Live From The Armed Madhouse, Palast included a song made from snippets of dialogue from the movie Network. Folks, if you haven’t seen that movie, please do so. It does more to illuminate the relationship between the corporate media and power and wealth than anything I could hope to say to you.
Extra Credit: That Palast album was also included as a bonus disc with Jello Biafra’s most recent spoken-word release, In The Grip Of Official Treason, which I consider Mandatory Listening. Palast has written two absolutely essential books, The Best Democracy Money Can Buy and Armed Madhouse, with a third book—Vulture’s Picnic: In Pursuit of Petroleum Pigs, Power Pirates, and High Finance Carnivores—due to be released in November. I cannot recommend this man’s work highly enough.
